What is Gestational Diabetes?

Every year up to 5,000 women in Sweden are registered with Gestational Diabetes. The disease means that the mother has a high content of sugar in her blood, which sometimes can affect both her and her baby’s health. Gestational Diabetes is a relatively rare disease. It is caused by the body’s insulin production, which is not always adequate, if two or more organisms have to share the mothers insulin. Since Gestational Diabetes is accompanied by many risks, it is important to cure it as fast as possible.
